In the Moment

To wake up to.....
To wake up to

Who we are
What we are here for.

To make life
More poetical, more sane

more livin, lovin.
To experience the true of all things

In the moment....

In the moment.....

In the moment.....
by William Segal, painter and spiritual teacher

While drinking a cup of tea, will we be thinking of other things, barely aware of the cup in our hands? If so, we will be tucked away into the future--or the past-- and not living one minute of life.

What Robin said exactly Donna. I am sitting here sipping tea and visiting blogging friends...and I am contemplating (now as I write this) am I in the moment when I connect with all of you lovelies? or is that taking me out of the experience of a warm mug of tea settled against my torso as I lay here in bed...perhaps both are true presence...just a shift of attention? Interesting to ponder though. Thank you so much for dropping by my blog and for your kind words last night.

So true. Practicing mindfulness and staying in the present moment makes all the difference yet does not come easily.

I come to your post in silence, the kind of silence that begins far off in a canyon somewhere, and without further sound rounds over you. It is the feeling I bring and the feeling I get. Today is a very important day, and your reminder that "this" is all we have, and to be in it and to enjoy it, and to use it wisely. I always receive so much from your post -- thank you for being you.

Beautiful pieces Donna. It is unfortunate when we let things slip by us unnoticed. I really try to be present...sometimes it's difficult. But when I am able to achieve it-what a gift!

What a wonderful call to wake up, to live right now, to drink our tea and be present! So simple and yet not particularly easy but worthy of our ongoing practice and dedication. Thanks for this gracious reminder. And accompanied as always by your serene and inspiring art!

These pieces are so very beautiful, Donna. I love them all. There's something about that high horizon line that stirs deep within me. It hangs there, so perfectly balanced... like sea and sky kissing and the added elements perfectly placed. Lovely!

I'm struck by the wonderful piece of topo map in your first collage, underneath the rocks, next to the areas of grey, framing the poem. That map seems to reflect the choice we make when we choose to stand in the moment, despite all the other possible trails our mind could take.

beautiful words and thoughts. your collages are just gorgeous. i love little paper rolls. and there is the black and gold polk-dotted paper just like some I have. I bought the collage masters book and really enjoy your work especially and the other simple collages.

I am in love with this post. The first piece speaks to me. The red center, the stones, the map in the background. Is it wrong for me to say that I thought of the Gulf Oil catastrophe?
Amazing pieces!
I love the cups, I would love to hold one in my hands.
Thank you for sharing.

I love every line and circle here. Nothing accidental, each holding it's own yet supporting others. The pallete is soft yet bold and I admire how you get colours that are potentially cold to sing a welcoming song to the viewer. Great to see your work again!

Thank you very much for your visit. Your blog is wonderful, full of charm and imagination, I like the abstract language. My abstract pictures are not digital. They were taken using conventional slides and have not been retouched at all. I don’t have use of a suitable scanner to scan them with the necessary quality so I have chosen to photograph them using a digital camera after projecting them on to the wall. Greetings

Donna -- don't know how to express my sincere thanks for this blog entry. Life has been definitely "not" in the moment for me lately -- your works arrest and help one hold the world at bay, if just for a moment -- a wonderful gift. :-)
