In the Moment
To wake up to..... To wake up to
Who we are What we are here for.
To make life More poetical, more sane
more livin, lovin. To experience the true of all things
In the moment....
In the moment.....
In the moment..... by William Segal, painter and spiritual teacher
While drinking a cup of tea, will we be thinking of other things, barely aware of the cup in our hands? If so, we will be tucked away into the future--or the past-- and not living one minute of life.
Yes! Just perfect in every way. The words.... the artworks ..... keep me in this moment. Donna you have taken your work to another level. Absolutely stunning!
The perfect sentiments to be reading at the end of the sewing circle week here in Brisbane 5 magical days in good company in a lush subtropical garden Rain on the roof Stitch into cloth Very much IN the moment
What Robin said exactly Donna. I am sitting here sipping tea and visiting blogging friends...and I am contemplating (now as I write this) am I in the moment when I connect with all of you lovelies? or is that taking me out of the experience of a warm mug of tea settled against my torso as I lay here in bed...perhaps both are true presence...just a shift of attention? Interesting to ponder though. Thank you so much for dropping by my blog and for your kind words last night.
I come to your post in silence, the kind of silence that begins far off in a canyon somewhere, and without further sound rounds over you. It is the feeling I bring and the feeling I get. Today is a very important day, and your reminder that "this" is all we have, and to be in it and to enjoy it, and to use it wisely. I always receive so much from your post -- thank you for being you.
Oh Donna, this series is fantastic, the rolled papers make me thing of things to uncover always, fabulous work and always thoughtful words to make me ponder. xox Corrine
Beautiful pieces Donna. It is unfortunate when we let things slip by us unnoticed. I really try to be present...sometimes it's difficult. But when I am able to achieve it-what a gift!
What a wonderful call to wake up, to live right now, to drink our tea and be present! So simple and yet not particularly easy but worthy of our ongoing practice and dedication. Thanks for this gracious reminder. And accompanied as always by your serene and inspiring art!
These pieces are so very beautiful, Donna. I love them all. There's something about that high horizon line that stirs deep within me. It hangs there, so perfectly balanced... like sea and sky kissing and the added elements perfectly placed. Lovely!
sipping, breathing in the exquisite moments as i savor this series of incredibly still pieces that you've created. stillness in each. preserved pieces in time. honored pieces, as you remind us to honor each moment.
What a beautiful post. Thank you for the reminder of awareness of the now...to re-member, to realize the union of all parts, all the time. Your pieces are visual poetry!
I'm struck by the wonderful piece of topo map in your first collage, underneath the rocks, next to the areas of grey, framing the poem. That map seems to reflect the choice we make when we choose to stand in the moment, despite all the other possible trails our mind could take.
This has been time well spent, slowly and purposely enjoying your images and these beautifully expressed words. So nice to see your work...serene and beautiful collection.
beautiful words and thoughts. your collages are just gorgeous. i love little paper rolls. and there is the black and gold polk-dotted paper just like some I have. I bought the collage masters book and really enjoy your work especially and the other simple collages.
I am in love with this post. The first piece speaks to me. The red center, the stones, the map in the background. Is it wrong for me to say that I thought of the Gulf Oil catastrophe? Amazing pieces! I love the cups, I would love to hold one in my hands. Thank you for sharing.
Donna, what poignant words and what beautiful art as reminders to live in the moment....I always feel a calmness and serenity when I visit your blog....thank you
I love every line and circle here. Nothing accidental, each holding it's own yet supporting others. The pallete is soft yet bold and I admire how you get colours that are potentially cold to sing a welcoming song to the viewer. Great to see your work again!
Thank you very much for your visit. Your blog is wonderful, full of charm and imagination, I like the abstract language. My abstract pictures are not digital. They were taken using conventional slides and have not been retouched at all. I don’t have use of a suitable scanner to scan them with the necessary quality so I have chosen to photograph them using a digital camera after projecting them on to the wall. Greetings
Thank you Donna for dropping by in my blog.I was so inspired by you that I ordered few books about collage tehniques.I know how to make collages in photoshop but I want learn the "manual" way on to the canvas. Have a nice day and keep on with your amazing art and blog:)
Thanks for joining my blog. Your work is very balanced, calming and spiritual. You have a lovely sense of texture and colour - I could look at these all day.
Donna -- don't know how to express my sincere thanks for this blog entry. Life has been definitely "not" in the moment for me lately -- your works arrest and help one hold the world at bay, if just for a moment -- a wonderful gift. :-)

simply breathtaking! your new series leaves me speechless...the layers, the assemblages and the palette...so beautiful. absolute perfection.
So true. Practicing mindfulness and staying in the present moment makes all the difference yet does not come easily.

I see it in the same way that I always eat.
