Tide, cold wax and oil paints with collage and shell, by Donna Watson
This poem is supposedly written by 14 year old Jordan Nichols, and 8th grader. Read it from the top to bottom and then read it from the bottom up for a wonderful surprise.
Our generation will be known for nothing.
Never will anybody say,
We were the peak of mankind.
That is wrong, the truth is
Our generation was a failure.
Thinking that
We actually succeeded
Is a waste. And we know
Living only for money and power
Is the way to go.
Being loving, respectful, and kind
Is a dumb thing to do.
Forgetting about that time,
Will not be easy, but we will try.
Changing our world for the better
Is something we never did.
Giving up
Was how we handled our problems.
Working hard
Was a joke.
We knew that
People thought we couldn't come back
That might be true,
Unless we turn things around.
(Read from bottom to top now)

magnifique travail... le rouge - brun soutenu est parlant... beau!
the poet is amazing! if no one succeeds in discouraging him I would think he has a great future! I wonder if the poem was his answer to a challenge!
so wish I could take your workshop, starved for other artist's companionship
Wonderful piece, Tide... and the poem is really good..., quite clever...
Your work is so wonderful - I get lost.
The eighth grader has the perfect mix of creative writing, philosophy and cleverness. Quite a combination in such a young mind.
That poem is really exceptional. Thank you for sharing.
Art can change the world....Wow thank you for sharing this quiet one...
Nice surprise is right! Makes me wonder how often we could change our view on things if we took the time to think it through from the bottom up? I hope your summer is going well.
The workshops all look wonderful - I hope they go really well. And the poem is a great yet little reminder of how e need to look at things the right way round AND upside down sometimes...go well.
Hi D - very cleaver construction in the poem as well as words. Hope the workshops fill and go well. B
